2021 BMW M3 and M4 pricing leaked

High-performance Bavarian road rockets to undercut AMG C 63 S and Audi RS 4 again

Australian pricing for the new BMW M3 and M4 has been leaked online and the good news is the blistering new mid-size German performance sedan and coupe will continue to undercut their chief rivals.

Supplied to carsales and other media outlets by a BMW 3 Series enthusiast group on Facebook, the pricing table appears to be from BMW Australia, which wouldn’t confirm its authenticity but previously said local pricing and specs would be announced before the local launch of the new BMW M4 and M4 in early 2021.

According to the list, the all-new 2021 BMW M3 sedan will be priced at $144,900 plus on-road costs, which is $3300 more than its direct predecessor last sold in late 2017, but significantly more than the lower-spec ‘Pure’ version available since 2018 ($129,900).

However, BMW hasn’t ruled out a Pure version of the new M3 later on in its life cycle, just as it has left the door open to replacements for premium M3 variants like the CS.

More importantly, the new BMW M3 undercuts its most direct German rivals, including the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S sedan ($165,835 plus ORCs), in both standard and full-blown Competition form.

The new BMW M3 manual is powered by a 353kW/550Nm inline six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that propels the high-performance German from 0-100km/h in 4.2 seconds.

But for $10,000 more ($154,900 plus ORCs), the new BMW Competition offers a more potent 375kW/650Nm engine tune and is fitted exclusively with an eight-speed automatic transmission, making it significantly quicker to 100km/h (3.9sec) in standard rear-drive form.

Meantime, according to the document the new two-door BMW M4 Coupe will be priced $5000 higher than the M3, at $149,900 plus ORCs, or $159,900 in Competition spec.

Similarly, that makes both versions of the new BMW M4 cheaper than its arch-rival, the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Coupe ($171,035 plus ORCs), as well as the Audi RS 5 Coupe ($150,900).

The new BMW M4 Convertible is yet to be revealed, and it will be followed by the first BMW M3 Touring, which will be a direct competitor for the Audi RS 4 Avant ($147,900 plus ORCs).

Australian specifications haven’t been revealed for either model yet, but expected the new M cars to be fully loaded with equipment.

Despite the uptick in power and torque and a range of new high-tech features, much of the talk around BMW’s new speed demons has focussed on design – specifically the super-sized double kidney grille that punctuates both models.

How much does the 2021 BMW M3 and M4 cost?
M3 – $144,900
M3 Competition – $154,900
M4 – $149,900
M4 Competition – $159,900
* All prices are TBC and plus on-road costs
