New ‘carsales Approved’ certification brings added peace of mind to used car buying

Recent carsales survey data shows car buyers are more willing to purchase vehicles digitally. But how can you ensure your purchase is all it seems?

carsales in partnership with RedBook Inspect has introduced ‘carsales Approved’, a new service to help you find vehicles on carsales with high inspection ratings.

Australian consumers are increasingly turning to digital channels for their used car research and purchasing journeys. But how do you know the car you’re looking at is the one for you?

A 2021 carsales survey indicates that post-COVID, 62 per cent of in-market car buyers are spending more time researching online.

This trend is expected to continue with 76 per cent of these respondents stating their online research habits will continue*. Over one third of consumers surveyed also indicated that they would be likely to purchase a vehicle online in future.

In response to these shifting behaviours, RedBook Inspect has developed carsales Approved, a certification award endorsed by carsales to identify the highest standard for inspected used vehicles.

“Assessing the condition of used vehicles can be tricky at the best of times,” said carsales Executive Director – Dealer, Michael Holmes.

“Transparency around a vehicle’s condition from a reputable third party delivers greater buyer confidence, especially when, for various reasons, it’s difficult to view cars in person.”

To be carsales Approved, a used vehicle must: be less than 10 years old; have travelled less than 160,000km; and have received an inspection star rating of four stars (out of five) or higher from RedBook Inspect.

The carsales Approved certification identifies dealer used vehicles with the highest performing inspection results, so not only do you know the car has already been inspected, but it’s achieved recognition of being in a higher standard condition.

Qualifying stock earns a ‘carsales Approved’ badge that is highly visible across carsales vehicle search and detailed vehicle view levels.

The inspection is conducted by used vehicle experts, RedBook Inspect. The resulting detailed report is easily accessible via the vehicle’s detailed listing on carsales, further empowering buyers.

So, the next time you’re looking for a quality used vehicle, look out for the carsales Approved badge. And for more information, visit the carsales Approved FAQ.
