New Continental tyre laps up wet tracks

Owners of high-performance cars are target customers for Continental's new road-legal track tyre that is suitable for both dry and wet conditions
Owners of ultra high performance cars from Porsche, Lexus, McLaren, Aston Martin, VW, Lamborghini, Mercedes Benz AMG, Audi, BMW M-Sport, Jaguar, Maserati, Ferrari, Honda, Renault, HSV and FPV now have a new tyre to add to their prospective purchase list: Continental's new ultimate high performance tyre, the ContiForceContact.
The new tyre differs from most tyres developed for the track in that it is fully road-legal and suitable for both dry and wet conditions.
"Traditionally the choices drivers faced when wanting tyres for track days were limited to 'hard core' 'R spec' road /race tyres which were not always suitable for day to day road use, meaning a tyre swap before they hit the track," said Jeff Moorhead, Continental Tyres of Australia's product and pricing manager.
The new tyre acquires its twin personality from a combination of a soft tread compound, shallow tread depth (5mm rather than the usual 8mm) and reinforced casing construction. The ContiForceContact uses an asymmetric tread pattern and "enhanced construction" as part of its high performance focus. The shallow tread pattern helps ensure block stability while being deep enough to disperse water and perform effectively in wet conditions on both road and track.
Jeff Moorhead said "Our new ContiForceContact fills the gap that previously existed between top level ultra-high performance tyres and the 'R type' treaded road race tyres that have emerged in recent years.
"It's ideal for enthusiasts attending track days and will also appeal to those competing in tarmac road rallies and other touring events."
The ContiForceContact is available in 18-inch, 19-inch and 20-inch rim sizes through selected Continental dealerships throughout Australia. A phone call to customer service at 1300 266 844 will direct you to the nearest stockist.
