New Dacia Jogger budget seven-seat wagon teased

Renault budget brand Dacia has teased its all-new replacement for the current Dacia Lodgy seven-seat MPV and announced it will carry the Jogger nameplate.

Confirming the 2022 Dacia Jogger people-mover will be revealed on September 3, ahead of its official debut at the Munich motor show, the silhouette suggests it will be far sleeker than the current Lodgy.

The latest Dacia is also claimed to evoke the Romanian brand's "outdoor spirit", suggesting it will evolve from the current tall wagon to a design heavily inspired by the recent Dacia Bigster SUV concept.

Despite more of an SUV look, in Europe the Jogger will go head-to-head with commercial vehicle-based MPVs like the Volkswagen Caddy and Citroen Berlingo, with prices likely to kick off in markets like the UK at around £15,000 ($A28,000).

Based on the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance's latest CMF-B platform that underpins both the current Renault Clio and Nissan JUKE, the new Dacia Jogger is likely to match its French and Japanese cousins for driver assist technology and be powered by the same small turbocharged petrol and diesel engines.

Already seen testing in right-hand drive, it's feasible the Jogger could be destined for Australia when deliveries begin in the second half of 2022.

That said, it's more likely the local Renault importer, Ateco Group, will focus its resources on importing and marketing the new Dacia Sandero hatch, Sandero Stepway SUV, Duster SUV and the pint-sized Oroch dual-cab ute.

Following on from the Jogger's 2022 debut, the Romanian car-maker has announced it will launch another larger 4.6-metre-long SUV in late 2024 or early 2025 that will also draw cues from the Bigster.
