Great Wall Motors has announced two single-cab variants of the Steed pick-up, powered by the same diesel four-cylinder and offered in both 4x2 and 4x4 configuration.
The 4x2 single-cab Steed is priced from $17,990 before on-road costs – exactly $10,000 less than the dual-cab model with the same powertrain. Great Wall dealers are also selling the base model Steed to ABN holders for $18,990 driveaway. Buyers in the market for the 4x4 single-cab Steed can expect to pay $2000 more ($19,990 before on-road costs), but are also entitled to claim the discounted driveaway pricing ($20,990) for ABN holders.
“Since we re-launched the Steed nameplate in 2016, we have received strong demand from dealers and customers for the return of the single cab version,” says Great Wall Motors Australia Chief Marketing Officer, Tim Smith.
“With a mix of toughness, reliability and value for money, the single cab has always been a popular member of the Great Wall family. At its peak in 2012, the single cab version accounted for 55 per cent of all Great Wall utility sales,” Smith was quoted saying in a press release issued today.
“Due to the popularity of the Steed Single Cab for small businesses, we are offering driveaway pricing for ABN holders starting at $18,990 for the 4x4 version.”
Like the dual-cab Steed, the single-cab models are powered by the 110kW/310Nm 2.0-litre diesel four-cylinder and drive is transmitted by a six-speed manual gearbox. The payload is nearly 1200kg (1198kg) and the towing capacity is 1700kg. Standard features include cloth seat upholstery, air conditioning, an auto-dimming mirror, dual airbags, stability control, hill-hold control and tyre-pressure monitoring. A 2.4m aluminium tray is fitted free of charge and features drop sides.
The Steed is sold with a three-year/100,000km warranty and fixed-price servicing for three years.
