Ferrari has inadvertently confirmed it will pull the drapes off another classic-inspired 'Icona' supercar in November after a prospective customer posted their invitation on Instagram.
Widely rumoured to be based on the LaFerrari Aperta hypercar, the latest Ferrari is said to be inspired by the classic 330 P4 racing car from the 1960s.
Fuelling the 330 P4 inspo, Ferrari also sent its favourite customers a model of a classic open-gate metal shifter with the invitation.
Featuring dog-leg first and a reverse lockout used on racers, the gear shifter is identical to the P4 racer.
The private customer event is expected to be staged on November 15, with the new Ferrari then rumoured to be publicly revealed on November 21 at the Ferrari World Finals event at the Mugello racetrack in Italy.
No firm details of how the LaFerrari Aperta-based hypercar will take shape, but it's thought the new model will be based on its full carbon-fibre tub.
We expect that under the rear boot lid will be a mid-mounted 6.3-litre naturally-aspirated V12 – but without the LaFerrari's electrification, meaning it will miss out on the 120kW boost from the hybrid add-ons.
Set to produce around 650kW and rev to an incredible 9250rpm, the frenetic nature of the V12 is thought to rule out the reintroduction of an actual gated manual.
Instead, an adapted version of the LaFerrari's seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is expected to be carried over.
Like the 2018 Monza SP1 and SP2 (that are both Icona Series models), it's thought instead of focusing on setting ultimate lap times, the latest classic-inspired supercar will maximise driver enjoyment.
