Ferrari has unveiled a new one-off Ferrari SP48 Unica it has created for one of its most loyal collectors.
Following in the tyre tracks of last year's V12-powered Ferrari BR20, the 2022 Ferrari SP48 Unica is based on the now-discontinued Ferrari F8 Tributo coupe and shares its 530kW 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 mechanicals.
Up top, the F8's body has been dumped for a dramatic all-new design fashioned by the Ferrari Styling Centre.
In comes a Roma-inspired snout that benefits from advanced modelling techniques and 3D prototyping created to efficiently channel air.
At the rear, the design is even more radical. The rear window is no more as it's replaced by a far sleeker rear deck.
The F8 Tributo's striking quad tail-lights have also been traded for a slim LED light bar that, again, hints at the Ferrari Roma.
Fresh ninja-star-looking alloy wheels have been introduced, while further changes include reprofiled side intakes and new sills and side skirts that are all claimed to boost the SP48's aero efficiency at high speed.
There's no detail on what's happened within, as Ferrari has yet to release interior pics, but it's thought the cabin architecture largely carries over from the F8 Tributo.
Numerous weight-saving measures are believed to have been employed, including a pair of sport seats that use laser-perforated Alcantara.
Lurking beneath the rear boot lid is, we suspect, the standard F8 Tributo's twin-turbocharged 3.9-litre V8 that produces 530kW and 770Nm of torque.
Combined with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the lighter one-off SP48 Unica should easily match the F8's 0-100km/h sprint of 2.9 seconds.
Top speed, meanwhile, should be more than 340km/h.
If you're wondering about the unusual 'SP48' name, the latest bespoke Ferrari supercar references the fact it's the Italian brand's 48th special projects car.
The Maranello-based firm has yet to reveal how much the one-off Ferrari SP48 Unica costs, but we expect it to be priced as much as three or four times the $484,888 (plus on-road costs) charged for the F8 Tributo in Australia.
