Watch the new Ford F-150 bust out

Good but not great? The new F-150 pick-up truck only gets one new engine and doesn’t look much different – but it does get cool new utility and cabin features

The new 2021 Ford F-150 pick-up truck shows off a subtle new look that is unmistakably Ford F-Series, one that traditional owners will love, but Tesla Cybertruck fanboys may find too conventional.

Ford has added a new petrol-electric hybrid ‘PowerBoost’ engine to the range, a super-powerful 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 backed up by a 35kW electric motor and a small 1.5kWh lithium-ion battery.

The beefy new hybrid rig has a cruising range of around 700 miles or more than 1100km, and Ford reckons the PowerBoost engine will tow up to 12,000 pounds, or 5440kg.

All F-150 trucks will be paired with a 10-speed transmission.
