New Grand Cherokee for 2010
Major re-design for Jeep's luxury SUV revealedA brand new look and significant fuel economy improvements are the highlights of the 2010 model Jeep Grand Cherokee. As the Carsales Network has already reported (more here), Chrysler LLC was forced to outline details of the car as part of its proposal to earn financial aid from the US Department of Treasury.
Chrysler expects a 19 per cent fuel economy improvement with the car expected to receive the new V6 engine range.
The fourth generation model features a radically different front-end look with a new take on the classic Jeep seven-slot grille as well as re-styled headlights. Overall the chunky look of the current model will be replaced by a cleaner look.
Chrysler has invested heavily in improving its cabins by establishing a specialist interior design studio in 2006 and the Grand Cherokee is set to reap the benefits. The photo Chrysler revealed to Congress shows a vastly improved look with much improved layout.
The Grand Cherokee forms part of a line-up of four near term models Chrysler LLC is expecting to hold up its short-term viability. In addition to the Jeep, the Chrysler 300C, Dodge Charger and Dodge Durango SUV are considered crucial to the company's hopes over the next two years with each of them hitting the market by 2011.
