New Holden Captiva busted testing

GM's mid-life facelift for popular SUV seen testing in Europe

The new Opel Antara, sold in Australia as the Holden Captiva, has been spied sporting a new face by our master spy photographers, Carparazzi.

Antara, which sold under a number of different nameplates throughout the GM world (Daewoo Winstrom, Holden Captiva, Chevrolet Captiva, etc) is seen here with a new front bumper, grille and projector-style headlamps as well as a chrome-ringed lower air intake. Turn signal repeaters also now appear to be integrated into the wing mirrors.

Currently offered in both front- and all-wheel drive configurations, the Antara is also available with a choice of petrol and diesel engines depending on where in the world it is sold. Five- and seven-seat passenger capacities are also available.

The Korean-built Antara will likely retain nearly all of its existing mechanical components with a mild sheetmetal and interior revision the only changes expected in this mid-life upgrade. Timing, price and full specification details are still under wraps, though we expect an announcement toward Q3 of this year, with a possible showing at the Paris Motor Show in late September. The first showroom deliveries will follow in late 2010 or early 2011.
