New Lexus LX teased

World debut next week for Lexus’ luxury 4x4 based on new LandCruiser, with LX 600 confirmed

The all-new 2022 Lexus LX will make its global debut next Thursday, October 14, at 3:30am AEDT.

Set to launch in Australia next year, the Japanese luxury brand’s flagship 4x4 off-roader that’s based on the new Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series has been teased with a rear-end shot that shows sharply-styled LED tail-lights complete with a full-width LED light bar and, not least of all, the LX 600 badge.

Specifications are still to be confirmed, but that badge suggests the new LX will, as expected, come with a twin-turbocharged petrol engine – but the jury is still out on whether it will be V6 or V8.

It could be the same 3.5-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 (305kW/650Nm) as found in the Toyota LandCruiser 300 in markets outside Australia.

However, Lexus fans will be hoping it’s the 4.0-litre biturbo bent-eight that can muster around 500kW and is slated for a band of new high-performance F cars that are also in the works.

Along with the single teaser image, a short video of the new LX has been released, showing the luxury liner blasting through the desert and declaring: “All will be revealed October 14”.

The new Lexus LX was originally tipped to arrive here early 2022, but given the Toyota LandCruiser has been delayed by up to 12 months, this now looks unlikely.

Based on the same TNGA-F ladder-frame platform as the LC300, the Lexus LX will offer high levels or off-road capability while delivering plush ride comfort for urban cruising.

It’s also set to share interior and exterior dimensions, give or take, albeit with a significant uptick in technology and luxury.

Given the new LandCruiser is priced between $99,458 and $152,036 drive-away, expect to see prices topping $200,000 for the new Lexus.

Stay tuned for more details next week.
