The first teaser image of the 2024 Lexus TX has emerged in the US as the Japanese luxury brand prepares to offer an all-new road-going three-row luxury family SUV.
A successor to the previous long-wheelbase Lexus RX L, the new Lexus TX is understood to be an upmarket version of the recently-revealed 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander, which has been ruled out for Australia in the short-term.
The TX will slot into the global Lexus range above the incoming new-generation Lexus RX as the brand’s biggest monocoque-chassis SUV and serve as a road-oriented alternative to the harder-core Toyota LandCruiser-based Lexus LX.
While Lexus Australia is expected to bolster its range with the forthcoming new Toyota Prado-based Lexus GX for the first time, thanks to the prospect of right-hand drive production opening up, carsales understands that there is no such likelihood that the TX will be built for RHD markets.
The teaser image of the TX showcases the SUV’s hind quarters, revealing a floating roof, body-coloured wheel-arch cladding and inverted tail-light cluster – all elements that contrast with Toyota’s Grand Highlander, which still looks to be the clear donor vehicle.
The TX’s glasshouse and C-pillar treatment are pointers to the latter.
Lexus is still to announce when the TX will be revealed, saying only that ““something big is coming … soon”.
That doesn’t appear to mean “coming to Australia”, though, as Lexus is expanding into new segments wherever they’re available – including with the new 2024 Lexus LM luxury people-mover that’s confirmed for launch Down Under.
