New-look 2025 Tesla Model Y seen in leaked images
Tesla’s top-selling battery-electric mid-size SUV set for big exterior and interior overhaulTwo fresh glimpses of the upgraded 2025 Tesla Model Y have surfaced online, suggesting the top-selling battery-electric mid-size SUV will receive significant design changes both inside and out.
The unverified images posted on X (formerly Twitter) by Teslaconomics show one image of the exterior and an interior shot that looks to be a pre-production car.
The first reveals that the Tesla Model Y facelift, codenamed Project Juniper, will include a full-width LED light bar with TESLA lettering and a new rear camera, as seen above the letter ‘E’.
Around the tail-light we can also see sheetmetal changes that hint at more substantial differences than the heavily updated 2024 Tesla Model 3, which was developed under the Project Highland codename.

The interior shot of the Model Y is less revealing, giving us a look at the door card, ambient light strip, button door release, revised dash and lots of loose wiring, the latter indicating that this car is an engineering development mule or pre-production prototype.
Tesla will be keen to keep the family resemblance with the Model 3, so the Model Y is likely to adopt a development of the sedan’s slimline headlights and redesigned front bumper.
Cabin upgrades should include new front seats and a new steering wheel with extra buttons in lieu of indicator stalks.
When it comes to powertrains, the Model Y range is also set to mirror the upgraded Model 3.
That means the entry-level rear-drive Model Y will come with a circa-210kW e-motor and cover around 500km on a single charge.
The Long Range version will boost that to almost 370kW and have a higher-density battery offering a range of more than 600km.
At the top of the tree, the Model Y Performance should deliver around 375kW of power and ballistic acceleration of less than 4.0sec from 0-100km/h.
There’s still no word on when Tesla will launch its updated Model Y, but it’s expected to land Down Under in the first half of 2025.
