Lexus Australia has introduced the 2021 Lexus LX 570 S that brings a light facelift to the Toyota LandCruiser-based flagship luxury SUV ahead of a new-generation series due in 2022.
That next-gen Lexus LX will be based on the upcoming 2022 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series, but while the Toyota-badged 4x4 off-roader is set to offer a range of new six-cylinder engines, the Lexus will feature a new twin-turbo petrol V.
For now, the 2021 Lexus LX range is topped by a revised Lexus LX 570 S that holds firm at $168,767 plus on-road costs and is readily identified by its redesigned grille and front bumper skirts, as well as two-tone 10-spoke alloy wheels.
The gloss black grille on the LX 570 S uses 70 individual block-mesh inserts instead of the previous grille’s wire mesh.
Lexus says the blocks are positioned to the left and right of the central Lexus badge and angled towards the middle of the vehicle “to create an impression of powerful forward movement”.
Also up front, horizontal lines in the front bumper skirts have been removed.

Meanwhile, new 10-spoke 21-inch wheels come with a silver face and gloss black inserts, inspired by the colour scheme used in the Lexus LC roadster.
The Lexus LX 570 S also gets an ‘S’ badge on the tailgate, as well as alloy pedals and door courtesy lamps that project ‘LX S’ onto the ground.
Inside, semi-aniline perforated leather trim can be had in black or Garnet, a rich burgundy.
Front and rear performance dampers are also included and are claimed to improve body rigidity and steering stability.
Power in the flagship LX 570 S comes from the familiar 270kW/530Nm 5.7-litre V8 engine, mated to an eight-speed automatic.

Lexus Australia boss Scott Thompson said the new-look LX 570 S is a stylish option for luxury customers who prefer a sportier LX.
“The new-look LX 570 S further broadens the appeal of this flagship luxury SUV with sporty, yet subtle design touches and a focus on enhancing its urban appeal,” he said.
Elsewhere, the LX range continues to open with the five-seat LX 450d, priced from $137,636 plus ORCs and powered by a 200kW/650Nm 4.5-litre turbo-diesel V8. It comes paired with a six-speed automatic.
Standard equipment includes 20-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, fog lights and daytime running lights (DRLs), keyless entry, electric upper tailgate, Adaptive Variable Suspension, a four-camera Multi Terrain Monitor with under-vehicle view and three-stage Active Vehicle Height Control.

Rain-sensing wipers, colour head-up display, heated front seats, rear tinted windows, cooled centre console, a 4.2-inch instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment unit with navigation all comes standard, among many other features.
Moving into the LX 570 at $146,636 plus ORCs adds another row of seating (eight seats total), 19-speaker Mark Levinson audio system and a moonroof. It also has a second fuel tank which brings total capacity to 138L, and the 270kW 5.7-litre V8.
An Enhancement Pack (+$18,800) for the LX 570 brings larger 21-inch alloy wheels, cooled front seats, heated steering wheel, semi-aniline leather-accented upholstery and seat heating and cooling for the second row.
Standard safety and driver assistance gear across the LX range includes 10 airbags, autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, tyre pressure monitoring, auto high beam, blind spot monitoring and trailer sway control.
