New Mercedes-AMG C 63 being revealed tomorrow

The announcement was confirmed alongside a couple of fresh social media teasers

The 2023 Mercedes-AMG C 63 E Performance will finally be revealed late tomorrow (September 21), with AMG promising “next level performance” via its Facebook and Instagram channels.

Several teaser images and a short hype clip have been posted to the performance division’s social media outlets showcasing a couple of the new C 63’s key styling cues – including its silhouette, lighting signatures, power-domed bonnet, badging and carbon-fibre rear spoiler.

There aren’t a whole heap of surprises in this department given the latest C-Class sedan has been on sale globally for more than a year now, including the lesser AMG 43 variant that previewed some of the more aggressive cosmetic touches.

The 2022 Mercedes-AMG C 43 also vaguely previewed the next C 63’s circa-500kW plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain through its 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol mild-hybrid powertrain, although its 300kW/500Nm outputs inevitably fall short of AMG’s C-Class range-topper.

The move to electrified four-cylinder power within the C-Class AMG portfolio hasn’t been going down too well with fans, despite the flagship C 63’s ludicrous power figure, with many taking to the comments section on both Facebook and Instagram to complain about the lack of a V8.

Others are welcoming the change as a sign of the times and looking forward to the huge performance and fuel economy increases, so you can’t please everyone…

At this stage the 2023 Mercedes-AMG C 63 E Performance has only been teased in sedan form, but there are some fans out there hoping for a return of the C 63 Estate, which seems likely given the German performance brand’s tradition, the emergence of the BMW M3 Touring and the fact the Audi RS 4 remains offered exclusively in Avant form.

A coupe and/or cabriolet version has already been ruled out, however, due to the future release of the Mercedes-Benz CLE – a model designed to merge the two-door C-Class and E-Class offerings into a single, one-size-fits-all package.

Stay tuned to our website and socials so you don’t miss our coverage of the new-generation Mercedes-AMG C 63, at 4:00pm CEST tomorrow (midnight on Wednesday night for Australian eastcoasters).
