New Mercedes-Benz G-Class leaked

Same-same boxy exterior of all-new German off-road SUV leaked ahead of official reveal

A week out from its world debut at next week’s Detroit motor show, all that remained to be seen of the new-generation Mercedes-Benz G-Class was its undisguised body.

Now that’s been exposed too, via Dutch website Auto Week, which leaked these images of the all-new G-Class without camouflage for the first time ahead of the official January 15 embargo.

We already knew from spy shots and an official video of camouflaged models that the new G-wagen looks almost the same as before.

But look beyond the box-like exterior and there’s an all-new ladder frame, higher-tech suspension, a lighter aluminium body, upmarket interior and technology borrowed from the S-Class limousine.

We covered all of this previously, so here are the key points to know about the first all-new G in almost 40 years, which arrives Down Under in top-shelf G 63 AMG form only from around mid-2018.
