New name/new look for Dutton Rally
Australian Tarmac Challenge aims to keep costs low and fun factor highThe popular Dutton Rally series has been overhauled and will now be known as the Australian Tarmac Challenge for this year. The new name is joined by a new leadership team and range of changes for the events.
Three events have been confirmed for this year in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth with the New South Wales event pulling off a significant coup. Competitors in the NSW round will compete on selected Super Special Stages at this year's World Rally Championship round in Tweed Heads.
Kicking off the other changes is a new structure for the classes. Street Production, Club and Motorsport Championship replace the old Handicap and Outright Championships. Any road registered vehicle is eligible to enter this year and the new organisers are encouraging a wider variety of machinery.
The Victorian event will include trials at the Phillip Island circuit, Haunted Hillclimb, DECA centre in Moe and Holden's proving grounds at Lang Lang.
Aside from the WRC stages the NSW round will begin in Sydney with time at Eastern Creek before working its way up the coast via Newcastle, Coffs Harbour and Grafton before meeting the WRC.
Finally the Western Australian event hits Barbagallo Raceway and the Perth Motorplex as well as traditional locations at Collie and AHG.
