We’ve seen the 2022 Nissan Z previewed by Z Proto concept last September and we know it will be powered by a twin-turbo V6, but now we can see the production version ahead of its world debut on August 17.
Spy shots and even video of a camouflaged pre-production Nissan Z, as it will simply be called, have been posted at the NewNissanZ.com forum, confirming the showroom version will be all but identical to the Z Proto.
At least two Nissan Z prototypes were parked incognito at a Taco Bell carpark in Miami, Arizona, but the wind had blown the car cover off one of them, revealing all angles of Nissan’s near rear-drive sports coupe.
Under the bonnet, a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 should produce around 300kW of power and 500Nm of torque, and both manual and automatic transmissions will be available once again.
The 2022 Nissan Z will make its global premiere in New York City in a little over six weeks, before order books open in North America – its biggest market – on November 15.
When it arrives Down Under early next year, the new Nissan Z is expected to be priced from between $60,000 and $70,000, undercutting its closest rival – the Toyota Supra – which is currently priced from $87,126 plus on-road costs.
In the meantime, Nissan Australia is offering unprecedented deals on the outgoing 370Z coupe, which is currently available for $50,490 drive-away.
