New Nissan Z reveal less than 24 hours away

Nissan’s hotly anticipated Z35 sports car to break cover tomorrow morning

The countdown to the global debut of the seventh-generation Nissan Z has now entered its final day.

Nissan will pull the covers from its new twin-turbo V6-powered rear-drive sports coupe at 10:00am AEST tomorrow (August 18), via a live-stream event from the US instead of its planned world public debut at this week’s cancelled New York Motor show.

You can watch the online broadcast of the new Nissan Z tomorrow morning here.

There is no shortage of hype around Nissan’s new Z, which is expected to be called just that (rather than 400Z) and will face new competition in the form of the new-generation Toyota Supra.

It is understood Nissan Australia is again planning a starting price of around $70,000 for the newcomer from launch, which would undercut the Supra’s circa-$87K starting point.

Expect full technical details of the new Z at the unveiling, including 0-100km/h times and power to weight ratios.

But its Infiniti-sourced 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 will drive the rear wheels via the choice of manual automatic transmissions, and the first turbo V6-powered Z-car in more than 20 years should outpower the Supra’s 285kW/500Nm BMW-sourced inline turbo six.

The all-new Nissan Z is expected to arrive in Aussie showrooms at the beginning of 2022. As they say in the classics, watch this space.
