The upgraded 2019 Porsche Macan makes its public debut at the 2018 Paris motor show later today, and now Porsche Cars Australia has announced initial details and starting prices for Aussie buyers.
The updated Macan range will kick off at $81,400 plus on-road costs for the entry-level 2.0-litre turbo-petrol (185kW/370Nm) model.
Although the base-grade Macan's price has risen $1690 from $79,710, Porsche says the facelifted mid-size SUV will arrive with improvements in standard equipment, dynamics and connectivity as it battles for sales with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and BMW X4.
Standard kit now includes a new 10.9-inch touch-screen infotainment system with advanced voice recognition functionality.
This new set-up will have Porsche Connect, ensuring the car is always online (via 4G SIM card) with a WiFi hotspot, while Apple CarPlay is also part of the deal.
Other features will include reworked dashboard designs with repositioned air-vents and options include an air ioniser system and Sport Chrono package which adds a sportier steering wheel with 'go-faster' buttons.
LED headlights are now standard fitment, as are new-look 19-inch alloy wheels, plus auto-dimming interior and exterior mirrors, more parking aids (ParkAssist with Surround View) and new 14-way power adjustable comfort seats with memory package.
Other changes to the new Macan include a bold new 3D tail-lights comprising lots more LEDs, showcasing the brand's evolving design ethos and providing a closer link to the brand's Taycan EV.
The entry-level Porsche Macan's four-cylinder engine also gets "improved combustion chamber geometry" aimed at lower fuel consumption.
The full extent of the 2019 Porsche Macan pricing and engine range is not yet known with the brand's newer 2.9-litre turbo V6 – also seen in the Audi RS 4 – potentially making its way into the Macan.
The current Porsche range includes the 2.0 ($79,710), the 3.0 S ($95,500), 3.0 GTS ($113,300) and range-topping 3.6 Turbo ($133,100). With some modest price increases, expect the new 2019 Porsche Macan range to mirror this.
Porsche says it has tuned the Macan's chassis to deliver improved comfort levels while ensuring the SUV is "even more enjoyable to drive".
Stay tuned for more details ahead of the facelifted Porsche Macan's Australian launch in early 2019.
