Porsche has continued its countdown to the reveal of its second-generation Panamera in Berlin on June 28 by releasing a teaser video claiming it will be "the fastest luxury sedan on earth".
Full details – including Australian pricing and specifications – won't be announced until 5:15am eastcoast Australian time on June 29, but motoring.com.au understands the new Panamera has set a new luxury sedan lap record at the Nurburgring.
"Reconciling contradictions – that's a tradition at Porsche," said the German sports car maker tonight. "It takes courage to do things. Not just keeping to the well-trodden path but reinventing yourself time and again. Just as Porsche did seven years ago.
"A segment changed. A success story began. And will now be continued. With the courage of a new generation. New standards will be set. Opposites reunited once again. More than ever. Look forward with us to a new four-door sports car."
Porsche's latest MkII Panamera missive follows an official teaser image and press drives of pre-production models in South Africa.
Due on sale Down Under in early 2017 following its European launch in August, the new Panamera (pictured here in an Automedia rendering) will be based on a lighter, new MSB platform shared with the next Bentley Continental and Flying Spur.
It will be powered by a range of smaller but more powerful V6 and V8 engines, including an all-new twin-turbo V8, and fitted with a full digital panel in the cockpit and new chassis tech.
