Kia unveils 'the next big step' in small car designKia has today released official sketches of the next-generation Rio.
Revealing a bold, sleek new form, Kia says the new Rio will be "the next big step" in the company's ongoing design revolution bringing more emotional appeal to the small car segment.
Longer, lower and wider than the current model, the new Rio is described by Kia's chief design officer, Peter Schreyer, as both 'sporty and elegant'. A swept-back profile and character line rising from the front wheel arch offering a sense of motion and fluidity, even when stationary.
Inside, the new Rio will offer quality materials through an ergonomic and modern decor.
"Downsizing is becoming more and more of a trend these days and a B-segment car as attractive as all-new Rio, with its driver-oriented cabin and interior trim options, will no doubt help consumers to be more comfortable making that switch," explained Kia's director of overseas marketing, Soon-Nam Lee. "New Rio is the 'next big step' in Kia's design revolution and we anticipate this model becoming even more popular than the current vehicle."
The new Kia Rio will make its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
Currently, Kia Rio is the company's third best-selling vehicle in overseas markets with 2010 sales in excess of 205,000 units.
