The first chance for most Australians to see the Chevrolet Volt in motion will take place in a cinema. General Motors' plug-in hybrid due for sale here in 2011 will gain high-profile public exposure in a sequel to the 2007 movie, Transformers.
Named 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen', the new film is heavy on apocalyptic science fiction, kid-level action entertainment, moral values -- and product placement. If you are not a fan of stealthy cinematic advertising (or GM, for that matter), this is a film to avoid.
For the rest of us, it's an opportunity to see a Corvette-based concept (the Corvette Centennial), a production Chevy Camaro, the Volt and the tiny Chev Spark.
And if you're more interested in the human cast, Shia LaBoeuf reprises his role from the first film, as does Megan Fox. Mike Patton, former lead singer of 'Faith No More' voices 'Mixmaster' in the new film. Australian audiences will note Hugo Weaving and Isabelle Lucas taking part in the film; Weaving as the voice of Megatron and Lucas in the role of 'Alice'.
