Honda Australia has launched the third-generation CR-V, which it says is the safest version ever.
The new CR-V's safety features include Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), front and side airbags with Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS), Active Front Head Restraints, ABS brakes and an Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure for all three variants.
The new CR-V is offered in the same spec line-up as the outgoing model: CR-V, CR-V Sport and CR-V Luxury. Curtain airbags are standard fit for the CR-V Sport and Luxury models.
All models are equipped with a 2.4-litre i-VTEC engine, rated at 125kW -- 7kW up on the previous model -- and updated 'Real-Time' 4WD system.
The CR-V is fitted standard with cruise control, adjustable steering wheel with audio controls, and MP3-capable CD player with AM/FM tuner and speed sensitive audio volume.
The Sport and Luxury models offer sunroof, fog-lights and a six-stack CD-player; the Luxury also receives heated front leather seats and rear parking sensors. All models are fitted with 17-inch wheels and a full-size spare.
A new six-speed manual transmission is also available for the third-generation model, which hits dealers at $31,990 for the base model. The CR-V with five-speed automatic starts at $33,990.
