Suzuki has announced a starting price of $22,990 plus on-road costs for its all-new SX4 S-Cross, which officially goes on sale in Australia on January 1.
Three equipment grades will be available (entry-level GL, mid-range GLX and top-shelf Prestige), along with two drivetrains (front- and all-wheel drive) and two transmissions (manual and CVT), all powered by an 86kW/156Nm 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine.
Although it will be marketed as a hatchback, the S-Cross is the latest in a bevy of compact crossovers to be launched in Australia, most recently including the Ford EcoSport (from $20,790) and Holden Trax (from $23,490).
Significantly larger than the SX4 hatch it replaces, the S-Cross is also $4000 more expensive, but Suzuki Australia believes the booming small crossover market will give it the potential to at least double sales to about 500 per month.
