New Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series upgraded already

Luxury enhancements for 2022 Toyota LandCruiser bring more street cred to hotly-anticipated large SUV

Automotive aftermarket companies like ARB won’t be the only outlets to offer upgrades for the upcoming Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series, registrations of interest for which are already open ahead of first Australian deliveries late this year.

In fact, several Japanese suppliers have already revealed a range of enhancement options for the 2022 LandCruiser, as evidenced by this athletic new body kit from Modellista.

These new front and rear bumper designs from the Japanese aftermarket company provide Toyota’s redesigned flagship SUV with even more street appeal, with a low front bumper in particular adding plenty of visual aggression, although it’s likely to reduce the vehicle’s approach angle.

Modellista’s 300 Series body kit also includes a new rear bumper that has a touch of Lexus to it, creating a more upmarket image for the heavy-duty 4WD.

Also available via Modellista are newly designed 21-inch alloy wheels (top-spec versions of the new LandCruiser will be available with standard wheel sizes up to 20-inch).

Obviously, the Modellista upgrades are designed for city-slickers in markets across Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe, where the 300 Series will be available with a 305kW/650Nm 3.5-litre twin-turbo petrol V6.

That’s not to say there won’t be demand for street-wise additions to the LC300 in Australia, where the 2022 LandCruiser will be powered exclusively by a 227kW/700Nm 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 diesel.

But it’s unlikely Australians will be clamouring for upgrades like this from the Japanese aftermarket maestros at Modellista, given Aussie buyers favour off-road aftermarket upgrades for their 4x4s.

Indeed, suspension lift kits, bash plates, all-terrain tyres, snorkels, winches and other hard-core accessories will be in high demand from local aftermarket brands Down Under.

However, many 300 Series owners may seek to tap the huge automotive personalisation market that exists in Japan, and these upgrades are some of the first to hit the market for the new LandCruiser.

While Australian pricing and specs won’t be announced for the 2022 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series until August, including whether the new GR Sport variant will be offered here, some dealers are already taking cash deposits for the new vehicle and price hikes of 10 per cent are expected.

While V6 petrol and hybrid powertrains are expected to join the lighter, more efficient, higher-tech and far more luxurious new 300 Series range in future, the downsized diesel engine will bring a 10-speed automatic, full-time four-wheel drive with low range and 3500kg of towing capacity.
