New Volvo V60 spied!
Swedish wagon family set to get bigger with this stylish new additionOfficially the wraps aren't coming off until October's Paris Motor Show but the photographers at Carparazzi couldn't wait and nabbed these first images of the new Volvo V60. The wagon variant of the swoopy new S60 was caught out under going cold weather testing this week.
Given the nature of the leak Volvo is keeping mum on this latest offering, but with a European debut pencilled in for late this year Australian customers should expect the V60 to lob into local showrooms in the second half of 2011.
What we do know about the V60 is that it will indeed be called V60 and will sit in between the compact V50 and larger, more practical V70.
The platform is, not surprisingly, shared with the S60 so expect a selection of four, five and six-cylinder engines with the choice of either petrol or diesel. The shared architecture will also mean the V60 should be available with either front or all-wheel drive.
Looking beyond the slab-sided camouflage it is also clear that the V60 adopts swooping, stylish lines of its sedan sibling. At the rear the tailgate appears to be steeply raked to give the car a sportier, rather than utilitarian, look in keeping with the brand's move away from box-based style.
