
The next chapter in the story of Volkswagen's iconic Beetle will open on April 18 with the German manufacturer launching its new model concurrently in China, Germany, and the United States.
In a spectacular, star-studded affair the debut will feature The Black Eyed Peas and 2manydjs in a set that will later be broadcast on MTV channels around the world.
"The Beetle is an icon of the automotive world, just like MTV is an icon of the music world," explained VW's head of marketing, Luca de Meo.
"In the context of this marketing alliance, we are taking the new Volkswagen directly to our customers and fans of the Volkswagen brand -- and we are doing it globally. We are certain that the car's one-of-a-kind styling combined with the latest technology will be very well received by customers."
The new Beetle's exterior will pay homage to the famous silhouette of the original, and combines stylistic elements borrowed from its forebear with all of the brand's latest technology. Volkswagen says this combination of new and old guarantees driving fun and individuality.
