The New York motor show continues to punch above its weight, with this year’s show from April 16-27 set to reveal world premieres from the likes of Kia, Subaru, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Land Rover.
Some spiffy homegrown models will be on show for the first time too, including the new 2015 Dodge Challenger muscle car.
Here's a rundown of some of the major reveals expected in the Big Apple late next week...
Land Rover Discovery Vision Concept
Essentially a preview of the Freelander replacement, the Discovery Vision Concept is expected to show off a brand new look as well as a more sumptuous cabin. But in regards to engine type and off-road ability, we’ll have to wait and see...
Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG coupe
One of the world's most intelligent cars just got a lot sexier (and louder) with the arrival of the two-door AMG-tuned S-Class Coupe. The stove-hot version of the opulent uber-coupe belts out 430kW/900Nm from its 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8, and should be right at home among the glitz and glamour of the New York motor show.
Nissan Murano
The next-generation Nissan Murano looks set to be a much sharper, edgier beast than before, with an aggressive new style that could elevate it into the premium SUV segment. The Murano has always been about daring visuals, and it will be the first production model to preview the brand's new design philosophy. Updated takes on V6 petrol and hybrid engines, CVTs and AWD systems are expected.
Toyota Camry
We'll get our first look at the car Toyota Australia wanted to build here; the plan axed after local operations will be wound down over the next few years. The new Camry should add some much-needed sex appeal to the Camry's relatively dry design in a bid to attract younger buyers. Expect it Down Under early in 2015.
We've seen these concepts before at previous motor shows, but they still provide the necessary eye candy to make a motor show truly memorable.
The Kia GT-4 Stinger hints a new 2+2 sports model from the aspiring Korean brand. And if it gets the fire-breathing 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine from the concept car we won't be complaining!
The Cadillac Elmiraj concept is dubbed a 'grand coupe' and is similar in execution to Benz’s sizzling S-Class - only with futuristic styling, a radical interior concept and jaw-dropping alloy wheels. Ahhh, those wheels...
The Nissan Sport Sedan concept will be shown alongside the new Murano on the Nissan stand, while the Ford Edge Concept hints at the next-generation Territory. Toyota's show-stopping FT-1 super car concept is also expected to attract plenty of attention.
