NEW YORK MOTOR SHOW: Hi-tech lift for Cruze

US-market Cruze revealed ahead of New York Show debut

Chevrolet has revealed details of the 2015 Cruze ahead of its debut at this week’s New York International Auto Show. And although, Holden is officially 'tight-lipped', you can almost bank on that new face coming Down Under.

Although the car’s styling has been tweaked, the main changes to the car relate not to appearance but connectivity and smart phone integration. For the 2015 model (on-sale mid this year in the USA), the Cruze boasts SMS alerts, Apple Siri voice integration and OnStar 4G LTE which in effect turns the car into a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot. At least part of this telematics upgrade will hit the Holden.

Last week motoring.com.au sources confirmed that the facelifted Cruze would be shown at New York despite the appearance of all-new car in China earlier this month. It’s this facelifted Cruze that will be produced alongside the Commodore line-up until both cars are discontinued when Holden’s Adelaide plant closes in 2017.

Chevrolet says the latest external updates align the car with its Impala and Malibu stablemates. Inside the interior has been tidied. Minor controls such as boot release and door lock switches have been moved to the centre console.
