NEW YORK MOTOR SHOW: Lexus set to unveil sportier LS

New F-Sport trim set to come with sports suspension and new body kit, unlikely to get more power

Lexus has released a single teaser photo of the new Lexus LS F-Sport scheduled for unveiling at next week's New York Auto Show.

Not yet clear is whether the new F-Sport trim will be combined with both the LS 500 and the LS 500h hybrid.

It's most likely the former so the sportier LS will stick with its 310kW/600Nm twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre direct injection V6 petrol engine driving the rear wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The F-Sport trim is not thought to add any more power - nevertheless Lexus already claims a decent zero to 100km/h time of around 4.5 seconds.

A likely inclusion is stiffer suspension to help reduce body roll.

The package might include different settings for the big LS’ clever active stabilizer bars.

Both the steering and rear steer axle are also expected to be re-tuned for more dynamic handling.

Externally, the LS 500 F-Sport is tipped to include a styling kit inspired by the GS F performance sedan.

More will be announced when at the official reveal in New York on April 12.
