Mercedes-Benz has posted a single design sketch of the flagship version of its all-new BMW X4 fighter to help build anticipation for the unveiling of the new coupe-crossover at this week's New York motor show.
The image released via Facebook late last night clearly shows the range-topping AMG GLC 43 Coupe, which will pack a 270kW/520Nm 3.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V6.
Last week Mercedes-AMG released pictures and full details of the non-coupe GLC 43 that will star at the US show.
Thanks to its standard 4MATIC all-wheel drive and a revised 9G-TRONIC that has a special double-declutching function, the GLC 43 can reach 100km/h in just 4.9 seconds.
The AMG coupe could be quicker if engineers manage to shave some weight off its kerbweight.
In any case, the quickest AMG Coupe is certain to benefit from a revised air suspension and new adaptive dampers.
Using a traction-boosting rear-biased all-wheel drive system, 69 per cent of all torque is channeled to the rear wheels in normal conditions.
The AMG version will also get bigger brakes and a new variable ratio ’sports’ steering rack developed for the GLC 43.
Sharing its platform and powertrains with the regular GLC range, the swoopy-roof coupe version will come with the same range of petrol and diesels.
More information is expected on the full GLC Coupe range, plus the fastest AMG model, following its reveal on March 23 (Thursday in Australia).
