Next-generation 2024 Peugeot E-3008 previewed again

Battery-powered Tesla Model Y rival shows off its fastback silhouette

The next-generation 2024 Peugeot E-3008 has been teased once again ahead of its debut this September, revealing the all-new French mid-size electric SUV’s striking fastback design.

Unlike the Peugeot E-208 electric hatch, which has been confirmed for an Australian launch in 2024, following the Peugeot e-Partner electric van this week and the E-2008 small electric SUV by September, the Peugeot E-3008 has not yet been confirmed for local release – and nor has the E-308 electric hatch and wagon.

Globally, Peugeot has committed to electrifying every model in its range by 2023, before offering an EV version of each of its models by 2025 and becoming an electric-only brand – at least in Europe – by 2030.

The replacement for the current Peugeot 3008 will be EV-only and the French car-maker has previously confirmed its rival for the Tesla Model Y and Volkswagen ID.4 rival will come with the brand’s second-generation Panoramic i-Cockpit incorporating an enormous 21-inch one-piece screen encompassing the infotainment and digital instrument cluster displays.

In the latest E-3008 teaser it’s the turn of the designers to show off a camouflaged side profile of the battery-powered SUV, showing it will borrow much from the new Peugeot 408 mid-size SUV – which arrives Down Under in late 2023 with a plug-in hybrid powertrain – by featuring a sleek, coupe-like roofline and a boxy rear-end.

Other takeaways include new, aerodynamically-enhanced wheels with contrasting blue elements, while up front there are three-claw LED daytime running lights.

Beneath the skin the Peugeot E-3008 will sit on the Stellantis group’s STLA Medium platform, which has been designed to accommodate battery sizes ranging from 87 to 104kWh.

Peugeot has already announced that range-topping E-3008 variants will be capable of covering up to 700km between top-ups, while the latest Stellantis batteries should be able to add 32km of range for every minute they’re charged.

Peugeot will offer the E-3008 with either single or dual motors, with the latter providing all-wheel drive.

It’s thought entry-level versions will deliver 150kW of power, while the most powerful dual-motor version could pump out more than 230kW.

A larger E-5008 electric SUV will follow and is expected to come with a more squared-off rear-end design to accommodate a third row of seats.

Crucially, both the five-seat E-3008 and seven-seat E-5008 should offer superior packaging than the SUVs they replace, thanks to their new dedicated EV architecture.

Stay tuned because more teasers of the new Peugeot E-3008 are expected in the build-up to its reveal in September.
