Nissan has released another glimpse of its all-new second-generation LEAF pure-electric hatchback ahead of its launch in September.
This time, Nissan has provided a view of the LEAF's new grille which features a diamond-shaped design and, it appears, no air intakes.
Following from a single headlamp pic, analysts are predicting the next LEAF has been heavily inspired by both Nissan's new Micra and IDS concept.
Under that new skin, Nissan hasn't yet spilled the technological beans on the battery powering the next-generation LEAF which goes on sale next year.
The safe wager backs a new lithium ion battery affording a far greater range than the 250km of the current 'long range' 30kWh LEAF.
At longer odds is new technology enabling Nissan's next zero emission vehicle to be able to cover up to 500km between charges.
We do already know the all-new LEAF will debut autonomous driving technology.
In January, Nissan announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the second-generation LEAF would come with ProPilot, the company's package of autonomous driving aids.
Earlier reports have also confirmed the next LEAF will be donating its new platform to other pure-electric vehicles like the Renault Zoe and a future Mitsubishi.
This platform sharing within the expanded Renault Nissan Mitsubishi Alliance should allow greater amortization of development costs - which Nissan hopes will allow the second generation LEAF to be more profitable and perhaps cheaper to buy.
It’s thought the all-new Nissan LEAF will be revealed ahead of September's Frankfurt motor show.
