Nissan embarks on #eatsleepRACErepeat campaign

Tilt at Le Mans and global commitment to motorsport underlined by social media tsunami

Nissan will encourage racing fans to swamp social media with tweets, grams and posts from a series of motorsport events over the next seven weeks.

Using the hashtag #eatsleepRACErepeat, the campaign is devised to reinforce the car-maker's announcement that it will tackle the World Endurance Championship and 2015 Le Mans 24 Hour.

No doubt it will also dovetail with the company's global plans to leverage NISMO into the street car domain with special versions of the GT-R, 370Z, JUKE and other yet to be announced models.

The #eatsleepRACErepeat campaign will incorporate the Le Mans and Nurburgring 24 Hour races as well as events in Japan and the USA. It will also include an Australian leg – Darwin's round of the 2014 V8 Supercar title.

“We want the fans to come with us on this white-knuckle ride through the summer,” said Darren Cox, Global Head of Brand, Marketing & Sales at NISMO.

“Tell us what stirs your soul about racing. Send us your photos, videos and opinions and we will spread your passion during this amazing period of motorsport.”

Nissan’s #eatsleepRACErepeat schedule starts this weekend in the Blancpain Endurance Series at Silverstone. The following weekend will see the Nissan ZEOD RC take to the track for the Le Mans Test Day, while the Super GT teams (including Lucas Ordonez, the first winner of Nissan's GT Academy) compete in Japan.

Referencing the NISMO-tuned VK45DE LMP2 V8, Nissan claims "over a quarter" of the entire Le Mans grid will be powered by its engines. Le Mans will also see the debut of the Nissan ZEOD RC hybrid racer.

The #eatsleepRACErepeat campaign will also cover the Nurburgring 24 Hour over June 20-21, when European and Japanese crewed GT-Rs are set to star, the abovementioned V8 Supercars round in Darwin and Goodwood's remarkable Festival of Speed.
