Nissan gives early glimpse at new Tiida

Is this the replacement for the Tiida? And will it even be called Tiida?

Nissan has today released the first sketch of its upcoming global sedan, the stylish new model set to replace the Tiida sedan from 2012.

The single rendering shows a sporty makeover boasting many styling cues familiar elsewhere in the Nissan range, with hints of Maxima and even Infiniti models noted in the front fascia, bonnet and front guards.

Nissan's joint venture with Renault could also mean the new sedan will sport a diesel engine for the first time, possibly the all-new 1.6-litre dCi variant found under the bonnet of next year's Megane. Four-cylinder petrol engines will also be offered.

Our first glimpse of the new model will be at the Chinese (Guangzhou) International Automobile Exhibition in December.
