Nissan Navara PRO-4X Warrior production nears 1000 mark

Premcar has now produced more than 750 examples of Nissan’s homegrown tough-truck

Nissan Australia and its engineering partner Premcar will celebrate local production of the 1000th Nissan Navara PRO-4X Warrior within weeks.

The Epping-based Victorian automotive firm has already produced more than 750 examples of the homegrown tough-truck, more than 600 of which have now been delivered to customers.

And Premcar now says its 35-strong Warrior team is on track to produce its 1000th vehicle by the end of March. That’s in addition to a similar production run for the previous N-TREK Warrior, based on the Series 4 Navara.

Premcar boss Bernie Quinn said his team has been hard at work on the offroad-ready PRO-4X Warrior (or Warrior 2.0) ever since it finished work on the first Warrior.

“This is so much more than some kind of sticker pack. This is an extensively re-engineered vehicle that’s designed, engineered and built by some of the world’s most talented automotive manufacturing experts, right here in Victoria,” said Quinn.

Nissan latest Warrior is also the world’s toughest Navara, according to the chief of Premcar, staff at which previously engineered Australian performance models for Ford’s FPV and Toyota’s TRD brands.

“That’s not just a win for Nissan and for Premcar, but for the automotive manufacturing industry more generally. We have always had world-beating talent, and it’s so rewarding to watch them produce world-beating vehicles again,” said Quinn.

Priced from $67,490 plus on-road costs for the six-speed manual and $69,990 (plus ORCs) for the seven-speed automatic, the Navara PRO-4X Warrior still undercuts its closest rivals, including the Toyota HiLux Rugged X and Ford Ranger Raptor X.

Standard features include a 40mm lift in ground clearance, Monroe dampers, an off-road wheel and tyre package and a range of adventure-ready components including a new winch-compatible hoopless bull bar.

The PRO-4X does indeed also get a sticker pack, along with embroidered head restraints, Warrior-specific fender flares and a widened wheel track (from 1570mm to 1600m) compared to a regular Navara.

“It’s a buzz for the whole team every time we see a Warrior out in the wild, whether it’s on the road or on a bush track or beach,” said Quinn.

“We know how much hard work and expertise has gone into producing every single Warrior, and to see owners out enjoying the final product is the ultimate in job satisfaction.”
