Nissan Navara range expanded

Nissan will commence delivering its Series 2 update for the Navara light commercial range from November, the company has revealed today.

Now numbering 33 variants, the Navara range has grown with the inclusion of seven new models, including a practical SL grade of 4x4 pick-up aimed at fleet buyers and tradesmen. Basically a decontented ST model, the Navara SL is powered by the same 2.3-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder – producing 140kW and 450Nm – and features a reversing camera and smartphone integration.

The seven-speed auto transmission is offered as an option over the six-speed manual and the Navara SL is fitted with vinyl flooring in lieu of carpet and 16-inch steel wheels with 255/70 tyres, instead of the similarly sized alloys of the Navara ST.

In other changes to the Navara range, all ST dual-cab variants are now equipped with satellite navigation as standard, and the Navara RX dual-cab and single-cab variants ditch carpet in favour of vinyl floor covering. All dual-cab Navaras now make do without the floor-level cupholder in the rear.

Other new variants in the Navara range include an auto transmission option for the dual-cab RX 4x4 cab chassis model and ST-X dual-cab models without the previously standard sunroof – now an option costing $1000 extra.

Underneath, the dual-cab Navara rides on revised rear suspension that has been retuned for local conditions. Nissan has specified new dampers front and rear, plus revised springs and rebound dampers. According to the manufacturer, these changes have resulted in improved stability and handling with a payload on board.
