Nissan Australia is urging its customers to be “vigilant across their accounts” following a cyberattack on the company this week.
According to a notice published on the Nissan Australia website, the local operation is currently working with its global incident response team and relevant stakeholders to investigate the incident and ascertain whether customers’ personal information was accessed.
“While the extent of the incident is still under investigation, Nissan encourages its customers to be vigilant across their accounts, including looking out for any unusual or scam activities,” the notice reads.
“Nissan is working to restore its systems as soon as possible and will continue to provide updates by its website available via nissan.com.au and nissan.co.nz.
“Nissan thanks you for your understanding during this process and asks that you have patience with us and our staff while we do our best to work through these issues.”
When contacted by carsales, Nissan Australia was unable to provide further comment or information, other than to confirm that updates would be provided as further details are received.
This is the second high-profile cyber incident to affect Australian car owners this year, following Toyota’s international privacy breach back in May.
