Nissan announced today a substantial feature upgrade for its popular offroader, the X-TRAIL.
From the entry-level grade, the X-TRAIL ST now comes with an iPod jack for the audio system, as standard, while the X-TRAIL TS turbodiesel now provides buyers with iPod jack, Bluetooth connectivity with steering wheel controls and privacy glass. Prices remain where they were for both variants: $32,990 for the ST, $37,740 for the TS.
Moving up a peg, the X-TRAIL ST-L is priced $1000 higher than before (now $37,740 for the manual or $40,240 for the CVT), but offsets the price increase with: full leather seat trim; electrically adjustable front seats with front seat heating; steering wheel audio controls; privacy glass; Bluetooth connectivity with steering wheel controls and iPod jack -- all as standard.
Topping the range, the X-TRAIL Ti (petrol) and TL (turbodiesel) models gain satellite navigation; a reversing camera/seveninch LCD touchscreen colour display in the centre console; iPod connectivity/USB; Bluetooth connectivity; CD player, DVD compatibility and steering wheel controls on the Ti (currently standard on TL). Externally, the high-grade models can be identified by new, 18-inch alloy wheels. Prices for the two variants have risen $2000, now positioning the Ti at $42,490 and the TL at $42,990. All prices quoted are manufacturer's list prices, not inclusive of on-road costs.
"The Nissan X-TRAIL is an outstanding allrounder," Dan Thompson, CEO of Nissan Australia, was quoted as saying in the company's press release.
"It provides authentic SUV performance on any surface, has plenty of room to stow your sports adventure gear and its choice of petrol or diesel engines means there's a model to suit all compact SUV customers.
"With this latest update we have added even more value. Our diesel models were a response to consumer demand and continue to represent outstanding value for money. They also strike the right note with buyers who are interested in reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
"The improved specification package will make the Nissan X-TRAIL the first choice for those who want a wellspecified, comfortable and sporty compact SUV which has shown its pedigree over the years and continues to improve," said Thompson.
"The STL model in particular gives us a lead over our rivals with its now standard leather seat trim and heated, electrically adjustable front seats."
