Nissan Australia has announced the top-spec 2022 Nissan Z Proto is sold out before the flagship coupe even arrives on Aussie soil.
Priced at $80,700 plus on-road costs, the Z Proto was only being offered Down Under in limited quantities, but Nissan hasn’t confirmed exactly how many examples were earmarked for Oz and has no plans to divulge its allocation details any time soon.
“The Z is the ultimate expression of Nissan’s sports car credentials and we expected demand to be strong for this incredibly special vehicle,” said Nissan Australia managing director Adam Paterson.
“I’m excited to confirm that all Australian production of Z Proto spec is now sold-out.
“All future owners of the Z have plenty to look forward to, with the fastest, most powerful and most exciting Z car ever; set to arrive in Australia very soon.”
While the flagship might be sold out, the more affordable eponymous version of the new Nissan Z is still available to order for $73,300 plus ORCs in the lead-up to its local launch, though Nissan is also yet to confirm how many examples will be arriving this year, let alone how long the waiting list is for new orders.
However, carsales understands that any new orders placed at the back of the existing queue will likely take more than six months to be fulfilled, due to both the hype surrounding the new Z and the broader production and shipping constraints hobbling the new-car industry as a whole.
Nevertheless, customers have been “encouraged to join the queue” via Nissan Australia’s website.
