Nissan Z reveal locked in for August 17

New York teaser also confirms all-new sports car to be simply called Nissan Z

Nissan has officially confirmed it will finally take the covers off the production version of the all-new 2022 Nissan Z on August 17.

As expected, the Japanese car-maker will time the unveiling in conjunction with the New York motor show, which opens to the media on August 19 and looks certain to be the venue for the sports car’s public debut.

Announcing the date via its social media channels, Nissan not only revealed that the new Z would be unveiled in New York City, but its imagery confirms it will be called the Nissan Z, rather than opting for the 400Z moniker.

As we’ve previously reported, the Z is expected to launch in Australia early next year, not long after the order books open in North America – its biggest market – on November 15.

The all-new twin-turbo V6 rear-wheel drive sports car is expected to be priced from $60,000 to $70,000 in Australia, undercutting its closest rival, the Toyota Supra, which is currently priced from $87,126 plus on-road costs.

Power will come from an Infiniti-sourced 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6, which should produce around 300kW and 500Nm of torque, and is expected to be available with either manual or automatic transmission.

Stay tuned for all the latest details as the countdown to August 17 begins.
