Nissan has accidentally given us our first glimpse of its second-generation pure-electric LEAF which was caught filming promotional material ahead of its September reveal at the Frankfurt motor show.
Captured completely undisguised by Norway's TV2 Broom, the first low-res images reveal the battery-powered Nissan will look more like a larger Micra than an individual standalone model.
Set to make its world debut on September 6, the Japanese car-maker is already well underway with its teaser campaign that so far has confirmed the firm's ProPILOT semi-autonomous cruise control and parking aid.
The replacement LEAF will also come with an e-Pedal that allows drivers to simply use the throttle pedal to accelerate and brake.
Rumoured to trade the current car's 30kWh lithium ion battery for a larger 40kWh and long-range 60kWh, the next pure-electric Nissan hatch is thought to have a range of almost 550km -- more than twice as much as the 250km the current car can travel between charges.
Other new innovations set to be introduced by the small Nissan is a wireless charging capability that uses charging pads.
Set to compete against the Chevrolet Bolt (that's ruled out for right-hand drive markets), the LEAF could also clash price-wise with the Tesla Model 3.
Despite the accidental reveal, more official teases are inevitable in the run-up to the September Frankfurt debut.
