Nissan's new MD

Company veteran steps into Aussie outpost role

Dan Thompson assumes the role of Nissan Australia's MD and CEO with effect from April 1.

A Nissan stalwart, Thompson comes from a background with the company's divisions in North America and the head office in Tokyo. In his most recent duties, as General Manager & Financial Controller responsible for General Overseas Markets, Australia and New Zealand fell under his jurisdiction.

He replaces the incumbent MD, Shinya Hannya, who is returning to Japan from his four-year posting here. In his next position, Hannya will hold the title of Corporate Vice President responsible for General Overseas Markets (GOM) and Thompson will report directly to him.

"Having just begun the roll out of a new product wave, Nissan is poised to achieve much in the years to come and I'm confident that Dan will successfully lead Nissan in Australia and New Zealand to realize its tremendous market potential," Hannya said.
