No new internal combustion Maserati models as of 2025

Electric version of every Maserati model by 2025, before Italian brand goes all-EV by 2030

Maserati has detailed its new ‘Folgore’ full-electric vehicle strategy that will see the Italian car-maker offer an all-electric version of each of its models by 2025, before internal combustion engines are abolished from the Maserati line-up all together by 2030.

The first of these all-electric models to launch will be the all-new Maserati GranTurismo grand touring coupe, followed by an EV version of the incoming Maserati Grecale medium SUV and the GranTurismo-based Maserati GranCabrio rag-top, all of which will be launched globally next year, specifically in that order.

Between the end of 2023 and 2025, an electric version of the flagship Maserati MC20 supercar will materialise, along with an all-new Maserati Quattroporte sedan and Maserati Levante full-size SUV.

However, there's no sign of a replacement for the Ghibli large sedan in Maserati's new model plan.

As these Folgore products are rolled out, Maserati expects its new electric identity – which will be a radical shift from the glorious petrol V6s and V8s for which the historic trident brand is known – to attract new customers to the brand across all segments given the increasing popularity and consumer interest in EVs, especially in the luxury markets.

“By 2030, the entire Maserati range will be full electric,” said the company in a statement.

“Maserati’s plan is part of the Stellantis ‘Dare Forward 2030’ strategic plan announced on March 1.

“All the brand’s new models will be developed, engineered and produced 100 per cent in Italy, and will be adopting electric powertrains, to bring great innovation and high performance, both typical of Maserati’s DNA.”

Maserati is far from the only premium player promising to go all-electric, with Alfa Romeo, Alpine, Audi, Bentley, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Rolls-Royce and Volvo all on track to be dedicated EV producers by the end of this decade.
