One of the greatest inventions of the 21st century has to be the ability to track online purchases from the minute you enter your credit card details and click ‘pay now’.
While some top-end car brands have long offered customers the chance to watch their new pride and joy emerge from the production line, Porsche is now delivering owners the ability to follow their new 911 being built with step-by-step insights straight from the factory floor in Zuffenhausen, Germany.
Whether it’s an entry-level 911 Carrera or the top-shelf 911 GT2 RS, Australian buyers of the latest 992-series 911 can watch their vehicle come to life using a new ‘Track Your Dream’ function on the My Porsche platform.
Also available to Porsche 911 customers in the US, Germany, Great Britain, Canada, Switzerland and Spain, Track Your Dream not only offers buyers images of their car progressing on the production line, but extra information exclusive to their vehicle.
“Porsche believes in giving its customers a highly personalised experience from the very start – this now includes the time during which they are waiting for their car,” said Robert Ader, Vice President Customer Relations at Porsche.

“Our customers can now experience live how their individually configured dream car is being built – this will increase the sense of anticipation even more.”
Christian Friedl, head of the Porsche plant in Zuffenhausen outside Stuttgart, says cameras have been installed at two stations on the 911 production line and linked to the factory’s production software, and more cameras are on the way.
“We produce highly personalised and fascinating sports cars every day in our main factory. The motivation for this is provided by our customers from all over the world,” he said.
“The success factor is our employees, who make customer dreams come true with perfection and passion. Allowing this behind-the-scenes insight creates an obligation for us, but also serves as a source of motivation.”
