Stand by for more colourful number plates in NSW, following the release of new Australian-themed personalised number plates today.
Owners of vehicles registered in Australia's most populous state now have the option of four unique 'Australiana' backgrounds, including the beach, the outback, the Australian flag and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The Roads and Maritime Services' personalised plate business, mPlates, says the new range of personalised plates is vastly different to any other plate options on the market and allows NSW drivers to display their national pride on their cars.
The plates, which measure 372mm x 134mm and are designed to appeal to both men and women, are available from today and will be accompanied by a marketing campaign including TV commercials from November 28.
The campaign will feature four Australian athletes in training for the 2016 summer Olympic games in Rio, each with "a strong synergy with the plate imagery", including Nina Curtis (Sailing), Ed Jenkins (Rugby Sevens), Mariafe Artacho del Solar (Beach Volleyball) and Stuart Tinney (Equestrian).
Drivers can restyle their existing plate to one from the Australiana range for a one-off order fee of $325 or, for a specific letter and number combination, additional annual fees start at $102.
