Kia wowed the Paris motor show with the tiny Pop EV, but the company is taking it to the other extreme for the upcoming Detroit motor show.
Witness the KV7 concept, a full-size SUV design study that's replete with gullwing doors and a flexible seating arrangement in the rear. Kia has for now issued this rendering of the vehicle, but there's no other info to go on.
Cryptically, in its all-too-brief press release Kia alludes to the fact that the Soul, Sportage and Sorento all bear a very close resemblance to the original concept designs that preceded them, which suggests the KV7 may also be a reasonably accurate pointer to a future model.
The company bills the KV7 as "an all-new, convention-challenging concept vehicle", but we're struggling to fathom where it would fit in the line-up, seeing as its SUV range is already spearheaded by the Mohave -- of which we recently drove a hydrogen fuel-cell version.
Of course, the eight-seater Grand Carnival is now starting to get long in the tooth -- notwithstanding a recent refresh -- so the KV7 could provide clues to the next-gen people-mover.
Going on the rendering, Kia's latest concept appears to have proportions resembling those of the Ford Flex, which is the blue oval's take on a people-mover-cum-SUV.
We'll be in a position to tell you more about the KV7 following its reveal on January 10. Stay tuned...
