One million private car ads - and counting!

Australia's number one automotive website, carsales.com.au, has posted another industry first today - its one millionth private classified ad.

The one millionth ad, which appeared on the site at 6.34pm on Wednesday, March 4th, reinforces the strength of Carsales' place in the automotive landscape, and is a major milestone never before reached by an auto classifieds website in Australia.

"We're delighted and extremely proud of this fantastic achievement," said Carsales.com Ltd Chief Executive Officer, Greg Roebuck.

"When carsales.com.au went live and published its first online classified ad in 1997, little did any of us expect that we'd be celebrating the millionth ad in early 2009.

"It's certainly a milestone for us and a perfect opportunity for everyone at carsales.com.au to warmly thank the hundreds of thousands of customers who have sold their car with us, and continue to do so," Roebuck said.

The one millionth carsales.com.au classified ad was placed by an advertiser in Chambers Flat, Queensland, who is selling a 1997 Mitsubishi Mirage for $4200. By way of congratulations, this customer will receive $1000 in cash from carsales.com.au.

To celebrate the one millionth ad, carsales.com.au is also offering all new private advertisers the chance to win $1000 in cash every week for four weeks beginning on Thursday, March 12th.

To be eligible, anyone placing a private classified ad on carsales.com.au will automatically enter the draw to win as soon as their ad has been approved.

Roebuck said that despite the tough economic times, carsales.com.au was growing strongly.
