One-off Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport Sur Mesure debuts

If a Bugatti Chiron isn't exclusive enough, the French hypercar-maker has introduced a new bespoke and personalisation service called Sur Mesure and to celebrate its opening it has created a one-off based on its track-focused 1103kW Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport.

Said to have been founded on increasing customer demand, the new bespoke customisation division will push the brand's existing coach-building expertise and craftsmanship to the limit.

According to Bugatti, the one-of-one 2022 Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport Sur Mesure is inspired by the hypercar's namesake, Louis Chiron.

That explains the repetition of '32', the number that was emblazoned on the Bugatti Type 51 in which Chiron won the 1931 French Grand Prix.

Other details incorporated into the special Chiron include hand-painted number decals, a baby blue paint commissioned specially that matches the original 1930s racer and head restraints embroidered with '32'.

Other changes include a black anodised aluminium finish for the centre console while the door cards gain a complicated pattern made up of 'EB' initials.

As well, there are yet more '32' and 'Grand Prix' motifs throughout the cabin, including the door sills and entry lights.

Under the rear boot lid, Sur Mesure have left the quad-turbocharged 8.0-litre W16 engine well alone, with the Chiron producing the same 1103kW/1600Nm as the regular hypercar.

Combined with all-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the ultra-exclusive Chiron Pur Sport should still offer explosive acceleration off the line (0-100km/h 2.3 seconds) but feature a lower top speed of 350km/h due to its transmission's track-suited shorter gearing.

Commenting on the new division's launch, Bugatti sales boss Hendrik Malinowski said: "For many years, we have worked with our clients to create their own personal vision of the ultimate hyper sports car.

"It has always been a highly tailored process, but as an ever-increasing number of our clients request detailed and intricate customisation, the launch of Bugatti Sur Mesure will ensure we can cater to their desires with the perfect level of detail required from a Bugatti.

"Our clients are often deeply intrigued by Bugatti’s motorsport lineage, and it’s fitting that the first Sur Mesure commission should pay homage to one of our great racing icons.

"We’re so taken with this creation that we intend to make many of this customer’s ideas available to more of our clients with the Chiron Pur Sport."

There's no word on how much of a premium over the 'base' Chiron Pur Sport's $US3.4 million ($A4.8m) price tag the Sur Mesure-modified Bugatti will carry, but it's thought to add another seven-figure sum to the bottom line.
